What is this calculator?

A box set looks harmless until you add up the episodes. This calculator turns an episode count and runtime into total viewing minutes, hours and days, estimates how many binge sessions it would take and projects the date you would finish at your chosen pace. Handy before you commit a weekend to a nine-season show.

How does it work?

Episodes are multiplied by the runtime, plus any break time you add per episode, to give total viewing minutes. Dividing by sixty and twenty-four gives hours and days. Your episodes-per-day pace sets the number of days to finish, which is added to today's date for the completion estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Does it include the opening credits?+

Only if you build them into the average episode length. Most streaming apps let you skip them, which saves a surprising amount over a long series.

What counts as a binge session?+

One day's worth of viewing at the pace you set. Watching three episodes a day makes each day one session.

Is the completion date exact?+

No. It assumes you watch every single day at the same pace, with no skipped evenings.

Why add break time per episode?+

Snacks, screen stretching and the next-episode countdown all add up. A few minutes an episode can add hours to a long series.

Can I use it for anime or short-form shows?+

Yes. Set the episode length to 24 minutes for anime or 11 minutes for short comedies and everything recalculates.
