What is this calculator?
Houseplants grow slowly enough that progress is hard to picture. This calculator projects your plant's height forward from its current size and typical monthly growth, showing the height after your chosen number of months plus one-year and five-year estimates. Real growth varies a lot by species, light, pot size and watering, so treat it as a rough sketch.
How does it work?
Monthly growth is added to the current height month by month. If you set a slowdown percentage, each month's growth is slightly smaller than the last, which better matches plants that taper off as they mature. The one-year and five-year figures use the same method over longer periods.

How fast do houseplants actually grow?+
It varies hugely. Pothos can add several centimetres a month in summer, while a snake plant may barely move all year.
What does the slowdown percentage do?+
It shrinks each month's growth slightly, which reflects plants that slow as they mature or outgrow their pot.
Why is my plant not matching the estimate?+
Light, watering, pot size, humidity and season all change growth rates. This is a simple projection, not a species model.
Should I use centimetres or inches?+
Either. Pick your unit and enter both the current height and monthly growth in that same unit.
Do plants grow in winter?+
Most slow down or pause in low light. Use a lower monthly growth figure if you want a year-round average.
