What is this calculator?

Every border crossing adds ink, and a lifetime of travel fills more pages than most people expect. This calculator turns your trips per year and stamps per trip into a yearly rate, the stamps already in your collection, your lifetime total and how many are still to come. It also estimates how many passport books you will need along the way.

How does it work?

Trips per year times stamps per trip gives your annual rate. That is multiplied by your travel years so far and by the years left to your expected lifespan. Dividing the lifetime total by the stamps a passport holds gives the number of books you will fill.

Frequently asked questions

Why start counting at age 18?+

Most people begin travelling on their own passport as adults, so the stamps-so-far figure starts there.

How many stamps fit in a passport?+

A standard book has room for roughly 40 stamps once visas and half-filled pages are accounted for. Adjust the field to match yours.

Do all countries stamp passports?+

No. Open border areas and automated e-gates often skip the stamp entirely, so your real collection may be smaller.

How many stamps does one trip give?+

Usually two, one in and one out, though multi-country trips and land crossings can add several more.

Does passport expiry affect the count?+

Yes. Passports typically expire after ten years, so you may fill more books than the page maths alone suggests.
