What is this calculator?

Those extra nine minutes feel harmless, but repeated every workday for decades they add up to whole days spent half asleep. This calculator takes how often you press snooze, how long each press adds and how many mornings a week you do it, then converts the habit into hours and days across your life.

How does it work?

Presses per day are multiplied by the minutes each one adds and by your snooze days per week to give weekly minutes. That figure is scaled to 52.18 weeks for a yearly total, then applied to your years lived and your years remaining.

Frequently asked questions

Why is nine minutes the default?+

Most alarm clocks and phones use a nine-minute snooze interval, a quirk inherited from early mechanical clock gearing.

Should I count weekends?+

Only if you snooze then too. Set days per week to match the mornings you actually use the button.

Is snoozing bad for you?+

Fragmented sleep after the alarm is generally lighter and less restorative, but this calculator only counts the time, not the quality.

Does this include the time before the first alarm?+

No. It counts only the extra minutes added by each snooze press.

How is a year measured?+

As 52.18 weeks, which keeps weekly habits accurate once leap years are averaged in.
