What is this calculator?

Call button, floor button, sometimes the door close button pressed twice for luck: a single elevator ride rarely involves just one press. This calculator combines how many elevator trips you take each week with the buttons you press per trip to show yearly, lifetime and remaining totals, plus the number of rides behind them.

How does it work?

Weekly trips are multiplied by buttons per trip and by 52.18 to give presses per year. That yearly rate is applied to the years you have lived and to the years left before your expected lifespan, while trips are totalled the same way.

Frequently asked questions

Which presses should I count?+

The call button outside, the floor button inside, and any door open or close presses you make.

Why two buttons per trip?+

A typical ride needs one call press and one floor press. Office towers and repeated door presses push it higher.

Do door close buttons actually work?+

In many buildings they are disabled for accessibility rules, but they still count here because you still press them.

What if I rarely use elevators?+

Set trips per week to one or two. The calculator scales down just as accurately.

How is a year measured?+

As 52.18 weeks, so weekly habits stay accurate across decades.
