What is this calculator?
Noisy rooms, quiet talkers and wandering attention all lead to the same small word. This calculator takes the number of times a day you ask someone to repeat themselves, projects it across your life, and converts the total into hours using an adjustable average length for each of those little conversational rewinds.
How does it work?
Daily moments are multiplied by 365.25 for a yearly figure, then by your years lived and your years remaining. Multiplying the lifetime count by the seconds each moment takes, then dividing by 3,600, gives the equivalent hours spent asking again.

The default of four seconds covers the question and the repeated sentence. You can change it to anything you like.
Does hearing loss change the number?+
It usually raises it. If you often miss speech in crowds, try a higher daily figure to see the effect.
