What is this calculator?
This calculator shows several overlapping clocks at once as simple progress bars: your life, the current year, this month, this week and the countdown to your next birthday. Enter your date of birth and an expected lifespan to fill them in. Planners and journallers tend to find a visual bar more motivating than a date sitting on a calendar.
How does it work?
Each bar compares elapsed time against total time for that period. The life bar divides your age by the lifespan you enter, while the year, month and week bars measure how much of the current period has passed. Life expectancy is an average, so that bar is the loosest of the set.
Frequently asked questions
Is the life bar a prediction?+
No. It is arithmetic against a number you chose, not an estimate of your lifespan.
Why does the week start on Monday?+
The ISO convention treats Monday as day one of the week.
Does it update live?+
It recalculates each time the page loads or your inputs change.
What life expectancy should I enter?+
80 is a reasonable default for many high-income countries; adjust freely.
