What is this calculator?

Movie snacks add up. This calculator takes the bags or buckets of popcorn you get through in a typical month and projects them across a lifetime. You get bags per year, the lifetime total, an estimated weight in kilograms and the bags still waiting in your future film nights. Perfect for anyone who considers popcorn a food group.

How does it work?

Monthly bags are multiplied by twelve for the yearly count, then scaled by your age and your remaining years. Weight assumes roughly 100 grams of popped corn per bag, a typical medium serving, so adjust your bag count if your buckets are cinema sized.

Frequently asked questions

How much popcorn is in one bag?+

We assume about 100 grams of popped corn, close to a medium cinema serving or a standard microwave bag.

What about cinema buckets?+

A large bucket can be two or three times a standard bag, so count each one as two or three bags for a fairer total.

Does the weight include butter and salt?+

No. The kilogram figure is popped corn only, so buttered servings will weigh noticeably more.

Why base it on a month rather than a week?+

Popcorn is occasional for most people, so a monthly figure is easier to estimate honestly than a weekly one.

Is the lifetime total realistic?+

It assumes today's habit continues for life. Movie-night frequency changes over the years, so treat it as a playful estimate.
