What is this calculator?

The plan was one episode. This calculator takes the extra episodes you watch beyond that plan each week and the length of a typical episode, then converts them into weekly hours, yearly hours, lifetime hours and whole days.

How does it work?

Extra episodes per week times episode length gives minutes per week, converted to hours and scaled by 52.18 for a year. That yearly figure is applied to your years lived and your years remaining, then divided by 24 for days.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as an extra episode?+

Any episode you watch after the point where you told yourself you would stop for the night.

How long is a typical episode?+

About 42 minutes for a drama and 22 for a comedy. Set whatever matches your usual watching.

Why measure only the extras?+

Planned viewing is a choice. The extras are the hours that quietly vanish, which is what makes the total surprising.

Does autoplay make it worse?+

Usually. Removing the countdown between episodes is the single easiest way to lower your number.

Is the lifetime figure realistic?+

It assumes today's habit holds for life. Viewing habits change, so treat it as a snapshot of your current pace.
