What is this calculator?

Some jokes only ever land with their author. This calculator takes the jokes you make each week, the share you laugh at yourself and how long that laugh lasts, then works out weekly, yearly and lifetime totals.

How does it work?

Jokes per week times your self-laugh percentage gives laughs per week, scaled by 52.18 for a year. Multiplying by average laugh duration converts counts into hours across the years you have lived and the years still ahead.

Frequently asked questions

Is laughing at your own jokes a bad thing?+

Not at all. Speakers laugh more than listeners in ordinary conversation — it signals playfulness rather than vanity.

How many jokes does a person make per week?+

Fourteen, roughly two a day, is a reasonable default for someone who enjoys a quip.

What percentage should I enter?+

The share of your own jokes that get a laugh out of you. Sixty percent is a friendly middle ground.

How long is one laugh?+

Most conversational laughs last two to four seconds, so three is a sensible default.

Why does the hour total matter?+

Short laughs repeated for decades still add up, which is a nicer way to spend hours than most of the other things we count here.
